A Letter to Mamas

Hello mamas,

Here we are, a fresh new start in a brand new year. But instead of resolutions and striving for so many accomplishments, let’s slow down, shall we?

Being a mom is one hell of a full-time job, no matter the kind of mom you are. Your brain functions on maximum capacity most of the time because:

  • you are expected to remember every detail for everyone (mom! where’s my sock? where’s my bag? WHERE’S MY UNDERWEAR?)

  • you are a walking calendar (you need to know everybody’s events and deadlines, sometimes even needing to deconflict schedules)

  • you are the keeper of the house, be it laundry, dishes, groceries, toiletries, gifts… (it’s a neverending list)

  • you need to do mom math for time and money (yes, we can fail math but we are experts in these)

  • you are a mom.

Yes, being a mom drains us, but yet it invigorates us to do better. The picture of motherhood is not a pretty one, but it is so satisfying to paint our own versions of a masterpiece. We should give ourselves more credit and remember to love ourselves, just as much as we love our families.

Reflecting on our motherhood journey, what affected us most was the erosion of our personal identity. It felt like our whole selves were being chipped off bit by bit with every frazzled day with the kids. It was all about the newborns, the toddlers, the kids, the family.

But hang in there, mama. It does get better. As the sleepless nights fade away, you’ll find yourself coming together again. You’ll get small pockets of time to do your own things, and they’ll gradually become hours you can take to read a book in peace, and then trips that you can take with your friends without the kids (we’re working on this too!).

If you’ve had a good start to 2025, Happy New Year! But if your year didnt start so well, it also doesn’t mean it will be a bad year. Just like how the sun rises and sets everyday, there will always be highs and lows. Slow down and breathe, no matter how difficult life may be. And when it’s awesome, enjoy every single second of it.

As for Tiny Hoomans, we hope that 2025 will show you what more we can do! We have so many ideas in our heads, but so little time. Let’s see how many we can bring to you guys this year!

And one of the things that is close to our hearts is the mental health of moms and kids. So we decided to design something for moms - the Mama Mantra Cards. It is not a call to be perfect, rather, it is encouragement and comfort for when we don’t feel like we are doing this Mom thing right.

Just a reminder for all of us: We got this mamas. We all got this. Let’s make 2025 the best year yet!

With love,

Huiyun & Corina
